Be my Valentine

Hi friends!

Can you believe that Valentine’s Day is around the corner already? Time is flying by, as usual. This weekend was spent recovering from the flu but the silver lining was that I got a lot of screen time. Daddy Newport took over the crew and somehow cared for the baby, got Grace to school, took care of me, ran errands, cooked AND worked. You would think he would have turned into a raging grump but nope…he kept his cool. He is rather amazing.

Anyway, enough gushing about my hubby. During my bed rest, I stumbled upon this incredibly talented stylist – Alicia Buszczak. Oh my…her site is pure eye candy. I picked out these gorgeous shots to share with you since they remind me of Valentines Day and love notes…

I just love the different shades of red and the lovely textures of the vintage papers.

Do you have plans for V-Day already?

Happy Valentine’s Day

Hi there and Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you get to spend time with the ones you love. I will be throwing a little party for my family of three and making mac and cheese as per Grace’s request! She just loves Valentine’s day…since hearts are her favorite. I just got done painting her tiny little nails red with pink sparkles and we laid out her beloved pink dress to wear to school tomorrow. She fell happily into bed with a huge smile on her face. Precious. Don’t you love how excited kids get about simple things?

Of course, it doesn’t take much to make me a bit giddy either. These roses named – “Red Paris“, did the trick and were my inspiration at my book club last week. I hosted and thought it would be lovely to celebrate Valentine’s with the ladies a tad early. It was such fun treating them to champagne and strawberries! I thought I would share the pictures I took that night…

Have a beautiful day filled with LOVE!

Fall Daydreams and Equestrian Love

Hello there! I’ve been having a bit of “blogger’s block” recently but tonight, I finally sat down and decided to share with you some images that have been floating around in my head for the last week. You see, one of the mom’s at Grace’s school is a horse woman and she has just gotten back into riding. I think that is so fabulous! I’m completely useless on a horse so I always admire those who connect with them! Every time we get one of those perfectly, crisp Autumn mornings, I think of her riding her horse through golden fields and falling leaves. For some reason Autumn and horses just go together don’t they? A bright fall sky, the crunching of leaves, a touch of morning fog, the reds, oranges and yellows, warm sweaters and riding boots…I mean it’s a match made in heaven really. Don’t you think?

I may not be the best on a horse but I can still lust after that equestrian look…

So lady like and refined but still strong. Love it!

This everyday outfit is perfect with just the right amount of equestrian appeal….(click to shop)

Okay, one more horsey pic…I could gaze at these gorgeous creatures all day…

What are you dreaming about on these beautiful Fall days?

I heart this space.

Happy Thursday…Friday is almost here.

I couldn’t wait to post pics of this simply stunning living and dining room! This masterpiece was created by The Brooklyn Home Company. They have some serious talent. Enjoy this little peek inside one of their projects but to see more check out their portfolio.

If a gorgeous French woman married a famous explorer this is what their house would look like…

To me, it’s such a unique and lovely blend. Rustic and elegant. Refined but yet, natural. It’s rare I see a room where I love every element! I love the dark leather chair paired with the light linen couch. I love the naturalist prints and wildlife elements. I love the cream moldings and those mirrors. Oh man, those mirrors make me crazy. I love the way the glass and brass tables add a touch of sparkle and light. I could go on and on…and I do…

I seriously love this place, I mean how perfect is that gorgeous French chair next to the rustic stump table?  And all the crystal decanters, they add such glamor…don’t even get me started on the wide plank, mocha wood floors…

The dining is also so lovely. The artwork is playful without being over the top and I want those chairs and the bench and the table.

You know what, why don’t I just move in?

Excuse the rambling…I am just so struck by this place.

Okay, deep breath…

What are your favorite design styles?

Hints of Spring by Suzanne Kasler

After living in Portland for eight years, you come to realize that, at times, January and February flirt with Spring like conditions…but, like always, the rain has resumed. As the gray closes in, I found myself drawn to the lovely interiors created by Suzanne Kasler.

I really love the soft, pastel hues in these rooms…reminding me of the first blooms of Spring…

So soothing to the eye…I could look at her rooms all day – imagine living in one! I wish!

To view her amazing portfolio of work check out her site.

Hope you are seeing signs of Spring where you are!

Dreamy Whites – a new blog to love

Hello there. I hope your Sunday has been relaxing.

I just discovered a new blog – Dreamy Whites – via Houzz (an online interior design source), that I’m completely in love with. Maria is the author of this delightful blog and is one talented lady!  She magically finds time to juggle five kids, a husband and a beautiful ranch home while expressing herself creatively through interior design, photography and graphic design! Can you say Super Woman?

Oh, and her home is being featured in this book, by Fifi O’Neill (who also has an amazing blog) ! Just added it to my wishlist!

Her style, photography and writing resonated with me…so I had to share! Check out these pics of her lovely home…

Gorgeous right!? Her rooms feel so dreamy and romantic. One day I hope my home can be this enchanting!
