Birthday Girl

Hello there.

Hope your weekend has been lovely so far. I was going to wait till Monday to share these but I found myself with some quiet time and thought I better take advantage of it!

Claire’s b’day was such a wonderful day. We had family in from out of town and many friends and neighbors came to celebrate our little girl. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. The sun was shining after days of rain, not a cloud in the sky and everyone was more than willing to sit outside and enjoy some food, drinks and of course, sweet Claire. Grace was incredibly excited for her sister and was helpful and supportive. She even made a “sign in” poster that she made all the guests sign as they came in. So cute!

My mother-in-law made some beautiful decorations for the house and I borrowed these great cupcake stands from a neighbor (thanks Christine!) to complete the butterfly and rose dessert table.

I got these precious paper butterflies from this Etsy shop. You can eat them too!

It took Claire a minute to figure out what to do with her cupcake…but it wasn’t long before she was stuffing her face.

She was beaming from ear to ear with all the love and cuddles she got.

So grateful for the special time I got with my family and friends…especially my Aunt Iris and Grandmother who traveled all the way from the east coast to meet Claire.

Much love to you all.

Tea obsession & Tabitha Emma

Today I felt so restless. Do you ever get that? Where you just can’t sit down and focus…so annoying! Finally, I decided that a trip to the book store and a cup of tea might soothe my nerves. So off I went, grabbed a stack of inspiring mags and headed home for a cuppa.

While sifting through the gorgeous pages of Somerset Studio and sipping some steaming Chamomile tea, I figured I had better find the perfect tea pot to go with my lovely new tea cup. I headed to Etsy to begin the search…

I have yet to find the “one”, but I did stumbled upon a fabulous Aussie artist, Tabitha Emma, who seems to love tea as much as me. Aren’t these sweet? I just ordered the print below. Couldn’t resist.

And of course, any good tea party has lovely treats to go with it…

Once I find my teapot…I think I will have to get this cozy for it. Tabitha makes adorable fabric creations too!

And Grace…well, she desperately wants this cake purse! Every girl needs a cake purse right? She cracks me up.

Check out Tabitha’s gorgeous Etsy store and blog for more of her beautiful work! Aussie’s rock, don’t they? Speaking of Aussie’s, tomorrow we are headed to my home town – Sydney for our Friday Escape! woo!

p.s. If anyone knows where I can hunt for vintage tea pots online let me know!

Classroom cupcake party

Today we took cupcakes into Grace’s classroom. She got to hand them out to all her little friends, politely asking each one, “Would you like chocolate or strawberry?” So cute.

Grace’s fabulous teacher – Miss Angie

Happy Birthday Gracie! I love you so much!!!

Keep calm and have a cupcake

Between family coming into town to celebrate Grace’s birthday, moving into a new home, trying to figure out how to furnish this new home AND stay in budget, not sleeping and preparing to go out of town, I’m feeling a little exhausted…frayed and frankly, a bit overwhelmed.

Today, my mother literally sent me to my room and told me to take a nap…I think I was being a tad crazy.

A nap was needed.

Upon waking I knew what I must do.

I had to go on a mission to buy cupcakes for Grace’s classroom birthday celebration tomorrow.

I grabbed Grace and my mom, led them to the car and took off like a mad woman to Saint Cupcake Deluxe on SE Belmont!

I wasn’t coming home until I had two dozen beautiful cupcake creations in my possession.

Well, at least I got one thing on my list done.

For the first time this week I felt a bit better, calmer.

Amongst the chaos, the boxes, the mess…I sat, devoured a chocolate cupcake and smiled.

Hope you are having a productive and happy week so far.

If not…go on a cupcake run.

xo,

Ivy

p.s. As a sweet bonus, this newly remodeled Saint Cupcake location is tied to a fabulous home decor and gift store called Noun – a treasure trove of unique vintage decor, accessories and art. Yummy treats for your tummy and your home. Love that combo.

Check out some of these lovelies…

And the charming shop…

I heart cupcakes

It’s Friday. It’s been a long week. I need a cupcake.

Not sure why, but cupcakes always make me smile. Maybe it’s their size, or the promise of a sweet reward…but whatever it is, it’s pretty tough not be happy around cupcakes.

These precious little creations come from Kylie Lambert of Le Cupcake in Sydney, Australia and they are almost too pretty to eat!

So go on…have one. You deserve it.

Happy Friday!

Ivy
