Escape to : Provence

As promised, I’ve got a little Friday escape for us. Ready?

So, I’ve always wanted to go to the south of France…I mean, who doesn’t?  Rolling fields of lavender, fabulous French cuisine, fantastic wine and the warm, golden light of the countryside. Sounds pretty perfect to me.

So today, that’s where we are headed. I found us a tranquil estate just outside the little town of Cucuron.

Welcome to  the Le Pavillon de Galon -  a beautifully restored 18th century hunting pavilion, turned B & B, surrounded by vines, orchards, cherry and olive trees. Ahhh…do you smell all that lavender?

The gardens are simply superb…look at this field of irises!

Let’s head inside and check out our room…there are only two guest rooms on the property so you feel like you own the place!

Lovely…let’s go check out the kitchen!

You know very, very good things come out of a kitchen like this! The owners have regular cooking and wine tasting classes held here. Let’s grab some fresh, warm bread, a platter of cheese and a bottle of wine and dine al fresco…

Ahh…the perfect spot. Let’s picnic under these beautiful trees and enjoy the fragrant breeze. Oh. That rhymes…hee hee.

After our tummies are full we can take a little stroll into Cucuron to explore…. (click on photos for their links)

Cat in CucuronHow charming is this blue door? So pretty!

Cucuron MarketIn the center of town there is this pond (Bassin de l’etang) that dates back to the 14th century. It was used to supply water to a mill but now is the backdrop for many of the villages’ events including a regular Market held every Tuesday morning.

Okay, well…we better head back for some R & R before dinner…I think a nap by the pool would do nicely. Yes, there’s even an infinity pool at this place.

That concludes our little Friday escape to Provence. Hope you enjoyed it and thanks for coming along.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Organic Baby Care now on Etsy

I finally got our Organic Baby Wash and Lotion onto Etsy.  Very gentle, super moisturizing and ultra relaxing – I love using both and I often steal Grace’s set. She doesn’t seem to mind especially since she makes it a regular practice to nick off with my shoes, necklaces, bracelets and anything else that takes her fancy that day.

Leave a comment and let me know if you want a sample.

Ivy

p.s. Working on a lovely organic baby massage oil and baby powder too. I will keep you posted.

Random project: Soy candles

Don’t ask me why…but yesterday I had a sudden urge to make candles…I know it’s kinda random but it just sounded intriguing to me.

I adore candles and I spend a bloody fortune on them…so I thought why not? I make my skin care products why not make some candles while I’m at it. In all my free time. ha!

So last evening, off I went to the craft store, grumbling husband and whining three-year old in tow, where I found a cheesy soy wax candle kit. I got it anyway, deciding against the gaudy pink dye and synthetic vanilla fragrance.

I wanted to use pure essential oils and no silly colors.

The result…a simple white candle in a frosted glass with the heavenly aroma of lavender and vanilla.

Not too shabby…for my first go. Fun too.

Ivy

Morning Mask

Okay, so I’m not sure if it’s the gray skies, or the super annoying construction going on in my street but I woke up grumpy and my skin just felt dull…so I got cookin’. I mixed up this yummy mask and I’m sitting here feeling my face get tighter by the second. It feels so good. Smells lovely too…had to share.

1 tsp. green tea infusion (make a strong cup of organic green tea)

2 tsp aloe vera gel

1 tsp organic honey

1 1/2 T white clay

2 T ground oatmeal

2 drops rosemary e.o

2 drops lavender e.o

Mix, give it a minute to thicken. Apply to clean skin. Wait 20 mins, rinse. Follow with toner and moisturizer.

The green tea is a powerful antioxidant, the honey and aloe are soothing, the white clay tightens and purifies and the oatmeal nourishes the skin. It’s a pretty nice little combo, if I do say so myself.

Oh and I just rinsed…my skin looks brighter, more even and feels really soft!

Enjoy.

Ivy

A spoonful of honey

My New Year’s resolution is showing up on my face. Yes, I am smiling more since I started my exercise regimen but I’m also releasing toxins…resulting in spots. Lovely. Just a few, but one is too much as it is.

My remedy – Honey. Pure simple honey… and a drop or two of something extra.

Try this to calm irritated skin when blemishes appear:

1 tablespoon of organic honey

2 drop of tea tree oil

2 drop of lavender oil

Mix and smooth over skin. Leave on for up to 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Follow with toner and moisturizer.
