Cherished Chamomile

A simple daisy? I think not! This little white flower may look simple but it was highly cherished by many cultures and is still used extensively today.

The Anglo-Saxons regarded German Chamomile as one of the nine sacred herbs given to the world by the god Woden and the Egyptians dedicated this herb to the sun and worshiped it above all other herbs for it healing powers. Hieroglyphic records also show that chamomile was used cosmetically for at least 2,000 years. Egyptian noblewoman used preparations of crushed petals on their skin.

The precious essential oil extracted from the flowers is sapphire blue and very expensive.  This oil is prized for its anti-inflammatory, soothing and relaxing properties.

For these reasons Grace & Ivy uses German Chamomile essential oil and its organic extract in many of our skin care products.

It also makes a lovely tea that can help you relax and sleep.

Tiny bottles and jars continued…

I just posted about filling sample bottles and jars all afternoon. They are so precious.

It inspired me to hunt for lovely pics on Flickr.

Tiny bottles and jars

I spent the afternoon listening to John Mayer, playing with Grace and bottling up samples of Grace & Ivy’s products. I’ve decided to offer a skin care starter kit at our Etsy Store. I know I love to try things out before I commit to a whole line.

Plus cute little bottle and jars are just plain fun.

Quote of the Day

Had to share this beautiful, inspirational quote…and lovely photo by Amy Ketsdever.

We must let go of the life we have planned to accept the one we have waiting for us.

Monday Walk

My to-do list for the day looked horribly mundane…

I was feeling very unmotivated and kinda down. The rain had stopped so I decided to get off my rear and get outside.

My dog was thrilled.

Usually, I make excuses for staying in when it is wet and cold but I knew I had to shake the Monday funk and fresh air was just the thing to do it…at least I hoped. Plus, I think it could count for exercise so that would be one thing off my list. I was bound to burn some calories.

So here are some pics from my morning adventure.

I felt much better after this long walk and newly inspired by the beauty around me.
