Inspired: Studio Visit with Amy Olson

Hello there! How are you all? Hope you enjoyed the weekend. Portland is rocking some serious sunshine and I’m soaking it up. Me and my cankles…yes, third trimester swelling has begun. Oh joy! Only five more weeks to go – so excited to meet my little girl!

Anyway, today I wanted to share with you a little behind the scenes peek into the studio of Amy Olson Jewelry. I don’t know about you but I love seeing where people create. There is an intimacy and beauty to witness where creativity, inspiration and vision come together for an artist. To see their dreams become reality…

Lucky for me, Amy is a dear friend so getting backstage access to her jewel filled studio was no problem.

Filled with natural light, the white washed walls play backdrop to an eclectic treasure trove of jewels, bits of gold and silver, vintage artifacts and of course all of Amy’s tools.

I must admit…it was hard to keep my paws off all these dazzling bits of loveliness. Like a little kid, I was tempted to play with all the beads, chains and gemstones. Who could blame me?

Amy’s beautiful apartment relates to her jewelry and her favorite hues and textures can be seen through out her sweet home.

So gorgeous right? Feminine, delicate, nostalgic and refined…these are the words that come to mind when I think about Amy and her precious creations.  She truly designs unique and authentic jewelry that reflect her aesthetics. Each piece is hand crafted with such care and detail! Be sure to check out her Etsy store here.

Thanks Amy for letting me into your studio! Keep creating girl!

Hope you enjoyed that little tour…do you have a place in your home where you create?

Etsy Love: le Petit Foyer

Hello there! Hope your week has been fabulous. It has gotten quite cold here in Portland, so at night I’ve been wrapped up in a vintage quilt, sipping tea and hanging out on Etsy. I seriously spend too much time there…but who can resist all the treasures to be found!

Check out these lovelies at le Petit Foyer

Such romantic and whimsical pieces! I love them all…although that sweet little parasol necklace may just have to come home with me…

Have a beautiful Friday!

Inspired: The Makers Project

Happy Friday everyone! Hope your week went well!

I don’t know about you but I love to witness people’s creative process. I like to see how an artist creates… how does it start? What does their space look like? What kind of tools do they use? I’m a bit nosy that way. So, when I came across this amazing photography project by Jennifer Causey, I had to share it with you. The project is titled – “The Makers Project” and it visually documents the creative process of artists, jewelers, ceramicists, bakers, florists and many other amazing artisans! I could spend all day looking at these beautiful and intriguing photographs.

Here are some shots showing the work of  talented Brooklyn based jeweler,  Jennifer Sarkilahti of Odette Jewelry

Fascinating right? Now be warned, the site is addictive so make sure you have a cup of something warm and a little time to explore. Enjoy!

Also…go check out Odette’s website, Jennifer’s creations are truly gorgeous! Drool…I mean see below….

Have a fantastic weekend.

Fall Daydreams and Equestrian Love

Hello there! I’ve been having a bit of “blogger’s block” recently but tonight, I finally sat down and decided to share with you some images that have been floating around in my head for the last week. You see, one of the mom’s at Grace’s school is a horse woman and she has just gotten back into riding. I think that is so fabulous! I’m completely useless on a horse so I always admire those who connect with them! Every time we get one of those perfectly, crisp Autumn mornings, I think of her riding her horse through golden fields and falling leaves. For some reason Autumn and horses just go together don’t they? A bright fall sky, the crunching of leaves, a touch of morning fog, the reds, oranges and yellows, warm sweaters and riding boots…I mean it’s a match made in heaven really. Don’t you think?

I may not be the best on a horse but I can still lust after that equestrian look…

So lady like and refined but still strong. Love it!

This everyday outfit is perfect with just the right amount of equestrian appeal….(click to shop)

Okay, one more horsey pic…I could gaze at these gorgeous creatures all day…

What are you dreaming about on these beautiful Fall days?

Birds of a Feather…

Hello friends! Hope your weekend was relaxing. Ours was filled with birthday parties and time in the sun – a lovely pairing!

Last Friday, I started my day with a trip to the hairdresser….yah! My hair was in desperate need of some love. While my stylist was washing my hair, I noticed a tiny sliver of feather hanging just below her ear. It was subtle but so pretty and whimsical – I knew I must have one. It felt a little rebellious to ask for one in my hair but I went for it!  So, here it is…I think I want more! Can you see it?

Doing something a little different like this makes me feel bold, like I’m stretching beyond my rather conservative (boring) norm. It’s amazing how just little baby steps outside our comfort zone makes us grow. What’s next a tattoo? Probably not…but you never know…

I guess with this whole bohemian trend in fashion, it’s no surprise that feathers are showing up in women’s tresses. Check out these other looks…

So pretty! Don’t want to commit to a feather extension? try a clip from Etsy.

What do you think? Would you put a few feathers in your hair? What is something that you could do outside your own comfort zone?
