Hello friends!

Hope you enjoyed your weekend! We had some great family time and as an extra bonus I got to spend Sunday afternoon with some local artists, painting in the sunshine! Blissful!

So…today I’m super excited to let you know that I am giving away one FREE spot into the AMAZING Camera Craft Class – (a $200 VALUE) by Galia Alena! I am one of the lucky contributors and I know its going to be a tremendously inspiring class with a lineup of beautiful teachers all sharing their love for photography! Check out more info on these lovely ladies here.

Photography holds a special place in my heart and I attribute my realignment with my creativity to it. Learning how to observe, appreciate and seek beauty in the everyday re-ignited my passion for art and for that I will be forever grateful! I’m so honored to share some of my knowledge within this wonderful online class!

Online Photography Workshop – Camera Craft

Hello!

Happy Friday! On this gorgeous summer day, I’m excited to share with you that the lovely and talented Galia Alena asked me to be a contributing teacher to her new online Photography workshop – Camera Craft! Of course, I accepted!

cclogo1b

Here’s the workshop description straight from Galia…

Camera Craft is designed to help demystify your camera and the technical side of photography, empowering you to follow your inspiration, and make expressive and beautiful images. It is photography 101 and it is so much more. I want the participants to walk away feeling like they have enough of a grasp of the technical stuff that they can really let their creative voices sing. Between all the samples and the guest contributors you wont be able to help but be inspired.

I’m so very thrilled to be a part of this AMAZING course!

Photography, as many of you know, played a huge role in leading me back to my creativity. Essentially, it led me back to what I love – ART – and for that, I’ll be eternally grateful to this magical art form! The class will actually be divided into two 5 week modules – “The Art of Seeing” & “Into the Light”. REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR BOTH.

The Art of Seeing starts 31st of August

Into the Light starts 26th of October

As a contributor, I will be sharing a few tutorials on some of my post-production editing, including a peek into how I edit photos on my iPhone! Super fun and addictive I assure you!

Learn and Bloom…

Hello everyone! How has the week been for you? I’ve been super busy working on my business and trying to get the nursery finished…but it’s all starting to come together. I have taken moments to run out into our yard, when the light is perfect and snap some pics of all the beautiful blooming flowers and trees! I love this time of year. It’s funny to think that before blogging, I never used a camera creatively and now I can’t imagine being without it. Which leads me to want to share with you my thoughts about learning something new…

Firstly, to all those creatives out there that have their own business or dream of beginning one, I cannot recommend enough that you take this online class with Jeanne Oliver. I’m almost finished with it and not only has it inspired me to really tie up loose ends and improve my business but I have met an amazing network of supportive and caring women! Full of ideas, questions and yes, fears…we have all been able to help each other out! That’s a pretty cool thing to happen these days. So check it out…

Secondly, I wanted to share a list of the other online classes I have taken that have brought me so much inspiration and joy! Sometimes I just NEED someone to tell me what to do and then I really take flight!

1. Unravelling with Susannah Conway (photography, reflection & writing)

2. Blogging Your Way with Holly Becker of Decor8 (blogging, marketing, business, photography)

3. Creatively Made with Jeanne Oliver (mixed media art, creative exploration)

4. Beyond Layers with Kim Klassen (photography, photoshop, inspiration)

These are just a few classes avaliable online. They have done wonders for my spirit, my creative energy and the best part of all, is that I get to share that passion with my daughter. I truly believe that learning something new is the cure for the blues. There is nothing like that wonderful feeling when you open your heart and mind and things become possible, achievable. Hope fills your day and you start to grow in ways you didn’t know before. Feeling stuck? Go out there and learn. Expand. Grow. Bloom. I promise, you will feel better.

As I get closer to having this baby, I feel comforted that I now have an incredible source of inspiration, one that will hopefully nourish me through the more challenging parts of being a mother…

Sending you all the best and thank you for supporting me and my endeavors.

Looking out

I am in a strange mood today. I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that I am extremely sleep deprived. Yeah. That’s probably it.

You know when you just are kinda spaced out…can’t quite connect with your day and you get easily distracted. I went from the couch to my bedroom (with the intention of making the beds) and ended up becoming completely engrossed with taking pictures in front of the window in my bathroom. Weird, I know…but I liked the light streaming in…

It was fun experimenting with my camera – adjusting shutter speed and aperture. I took dozens of awful shots…only to get a few decent ones. But, I’m learning so it’s all good, right?

Honestly, I always feel so strange posting pictures of myself…but I don’t have anyone else to photograph. I guess it’s good practice.

Okay…back to the laundry…ho hum.

Tomorrow will be our Friday escape so don’t miss it!

I heart my camera

Hi there! Hope your Monday is going smoothly.

On Saturday, I took a fantastic photography workshop with Peter West Carey and I’m completely in LOVE with my new camera (now that I understand it)!  I look a little silly walking around the house and yard in my yoga pants and sweatshirt with my Canon around my neck but I don’t really care. Every time the sun peeks out behind the clouds, I squeal and run outside desperate to capture the beautiful light.  Here are some of my humble attempts. I’m learning and loving it.

This lovely camellia is the first bloom in my garden. I was so happy to see her.

My poor kitty has been very patient with me…

I will leave you with another pic of my beloved camellia. I played with some filters on this one. So much fun!

Have a fabulous afternoon and thanks for having a look.
