Collage Cards

Hi friends,

Hope you are enjoying your weekend. I know Valentine’s is over but I wanted to share the collage card project Grace and I did for her classroom. I think this simple method of creating cards is really fun and can be done for any occasion.

Grace and I have done many collages but I have discovered that the best success is found when I curate the materials. Usually sticking with a theme or color palette allows your kiddo to make choices and express themselves without being overwhelmed. There have been plenty of times when I threw down a mass amount of stickers and papers only to find the Grace got overwhelmed and upset when her finished artwork looked “messy”.  She simply had too many choices in front of her. Providing just a little framework meant that she got to be creative and enjoy her results too. Nothing  is worse than an afternoon spent crafting only to end up with a grumpy kid, a paper strewn floor and glue everywhere. A creative buzz kill.

Before Grace got home from school I had cut out and organized the elements that would be used for the Valentine cards. This made it easy for Grace to make her selections and understand the color palette.

Scrapbook paper and vintage music sheets were punched into hearts using this handy dandy punch. Scrap booking die cuts and sticky jewels make easy embellishments – we had to make 25 of these cards after all! A little glitter was used at the end for a special touch of sparkle and buttons were a fun 3D addition. K & Company has some of the prettiest supplies and are my go to for scrapbooking goodies!

We had so much fun making these! I would have pics of all of them but it was dark by the time we were finished!

Think about making some collage cards with your kids for Easter!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

My sweet Valentine

Hi all! How was your weekend? Our was WAY too busy but filled with lots of fun…so I can’t complain. In the midst of the craziness, I managed to snap a couple of pics of my Claire bear. She will be eight months old on the 19th! I can’t believe it. Time is truly flying by. It makes me a little sad, since she will be my last baby. (I think.)

So I’m trying to really appreciate these sweet days with her…claire bear final

Grace and I just figured out our craft for Valentine’s cards so I’m excited to get to work on those tomorrow. They will involve lots of hearts, vintage papers and glitter. Gotta have glitter, right?

What are your plans for V-day?

Be my Valentine

Hi friends!

Can you believe that Valentine’s Day is around the corner already? Time is flying by, as usual. This weekend was spent recovering from the flu but the silver lining was that I got a lot of screen time. Daddy Newport took over the crew and somehow cared for the baby, got Grace to school, took care of me, ran errands, cooked AND worked. You would think he would have turned into a raging grump but nope…he kept his cool. He is rather amazing.

Anyway, enough gushing about my hubby. During my bed rest, I stumbled upon this incredibly talented stylist – Alicia Buszczak. Oh my…her site is pure eye candy. I picked out these gorgeous shots to share with you since they remind me of Valentines Day and love notes…

I just love the different shades of red and the lovely textures of the vintage papers.

Do you have plans for V-Day already?

A few of my favorite things…French treasures

Hello all! Hope you enjoyed your weekend. I have been nursing my family back to health after an awful flu struck our home! I’m the only one who hasn’t gotten sick – somehow? Anyway, I don’t want to tempt fate so I’m just staying positive and gobbling down Vitamin C.

So, I know I don’t often write about my vintage shop on Etsy but with Valentine’s just around the corner, I thought it might be fun to share some of my favorite French treasures that I have listed right now. Taking photographs of these gorgeous objects has become such a delight for me, almost as rewarding as the hunt! Just click on the images to visit my shop and learn more about these…

My sweet Valentine

Hi there! Hope everyone enjoyed Valentine’s day. We had a lovely evening! I wanted to share the shots I took of Grace before she headed to school yesterday. She was so excited to be in her party dress and couldn’t wait to hand out the little Valentine’s we had made for her class…

Happy Valentine’s Day

Hi there and Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you get to spend time with the ones you love. I will be throwing a little party for my family of three and making mac and cheese as per Grace’s request! She just loves Valentine’s day…since hearts are her favorite. I just got done painting her tiny little nails red with pink sparkles and we laid out her beloved pink dress to wear to school tomorrow. She fell happily into bed with a huge smile on her face. Precious. Don’t you love how excited kids get about simple things?

Of course, it doesn’t take much to make me a bit giddy either. These roses named – “Red Paris“, did the trick and were my inspiration at my book club last week. I hosted and thought it would be lovely to celebrate Valentine’s with the ladies a tad early. It was such fun treating them to champagne and strawberries! I thought I would share the pictures I took that night…

Have a beautiful day filled with LOVE!
