How is everyone? I wanted to pop into today and let you know a couple of things! First off – Trina and I are so, so excited that we ONLY have ONE more spot left at ArtWorthy 2016!
We are over the moon happy and so grateful for the beautiful souls who have signed up to join us for this special long weekend! If you have been sitting on the fence, now is the time to snap up this spot! With a private gourmet chef, yoga, meditation, EFT sessions and loads of ART making you won’t want to miss out! Valentine’s just around the corner so treat yourself to some SELF LOVE!
Ok, so I also wanted to tell you about three FAB books that I want to recommend!
This book literally changed me! Literally. If you haven’t read it yet. Do. It. Now.
This fabulous book was gifted to me by the lovely Trina and I ate it up! Full of wit and several laugh out loud moments – you will love this quick read about empowering your life with that sweet little word YES!
And last but not least, this book knocked my artsy little socks off! Building creative confidence is not only powerful, it may radically change your existence! My belief that we are all creative beings is the cornerstone of this book and unearthing that creativity is not only your RIGHT it is your DUTY! Hiding those gorgeous gifts from the world is a major bummer for everyone!
I adore the little trailer for this book too! Check it out…
Okay, those are fresh off my stack of books! Check them out and let me know how they affect you I would love to hear about it!
Much love and gratitude to you all!
Happy Thursday! It’s always a fun day for me because it’s Studio Day with my art buddy, Robin Laws. We are going to be watching Katie Kendrick videos from her new online class and painting away!
So far, 2016 has been a whirlwind with many new classes that I am both taking and teaching for. One of which is Lifebook. This amazing class has over 2900 students all actively creating beautiful work. You should see my Facebook feed! While it is hard to keep up with, I am absolutely in love with all the art that flows through it from such talented students.
My bonus lesson for Lifebook aired on Jan. 4th and it was called “Patch it up, Make it Shine”. The thought behind the tutorial was to write down limiting or negative beliefs and thoughts that we want to leave behind in 2015 and then collage and paint over these words with gorgeous metallics, powerful intentions and more illuminated imagery to light our path into 2016. I have been absolutely blown away by the pieces that have come from this project.
I have gathered a few of the ones that truly touched me with their beauty….enjoy….
Suzanne Marie Kelly
Aren’t they just gorgeous? Such unique styles with shimmering details and personal meaning. I feel so lucky to be a teacher!
What intentions are you setting to light up your 2016?

Hello my friends!
I do hope you are well and that the holiday season is treating you kindly. I know it’s crazy busy! We got the tree up early this year and the house is all decked out in lights and trim. So pretty!
In the midst of all the festive mayhem, I’ve been plugging along on a very, very important project of mine. A dream really….that has finally come to light. I’ve meticulously planned my first international Art Retreat for May 2017!! Now, I just need guests to take along with me!
Who loves Art AND Outlander? Show of hands! Well, I do and I’m hoping some of you do too because that’s what this Art Adventure is all about!
I have found as an artist, that nothing inspires me more than travel and good stories! The Outlander books first captivated me (completely) when I was pregnant with my first daughter. I devoured the books and created art around the characters. I even named my second daughter, Claire. It’s not a co-incidence!! ;)
A fan? Yup! A fanatic? Yeah, maybe but I thought why not combine two of my passions? A perfect excuse to travel with some like minded friends and see Scotland while creating art along the way!
So who’s with me? As Jamie would say…”Je suis prest!” (I am ready.)
If you want to read more about this extraordinary journey come check out the page here or click on the image below. I’ve got a detailed day by day itinerary all planned out! It’s dreamy!
I hope to meet some of you in Scotland!
Happy Holidays and much love to you all!
How’s life been treating you? Well, I hope. I’ve been busy busy wrapping up filming for my latest class and planning some very exciting retreats…more info to come! ;)
However, I always try and sneak in time to find inspiring art videos on YouTube and I just have to share these with you! The following videos are done by a very talented encaustic artist who I greatly admire – Nancy Crawford. Her work is simple, yet sophisticated. Refined yet rustic.
I love how she works the wax and her other mixed media materials! You guys know I’m hooked on encaustic wax so when I watched these I’m pretty sure I squealed with delight!
Nancy’s videos are quick and perfect for a speedy dose of inspiration!
Inspiring right?! She has so many great technique videos to really get you fired up! You can check her out on her website too!
Let me know if you try any of these techniques! I would love to hear how it goes!
Have a creative day!

Hi there friends!
Hope your week is off to a great start! The Fall weather here has been outstanding and we even managed to get out to the Oregon wine country and picnic with the kids this weekend! We happen to have some lovely friends who have a beautiful vacation rental home out there that I got to help decorate! Very fun to juice up the ole’ interior designer brain that doesn’t get much use anymore!
Anyway, I have some seriously exciting news to share! I have just opened up registration for my new online mixed media and encaustic workshop – Flight & Feather!
This two week online workshop will explore the magic, grace and beauty of birds! When I look around my studio, I notice how many bird images and sweet stray feathers I have lying about. Birds appear in my work all the time, so I was inspired to create a class all about them!
We will be completing 4 main projects and several studies and exercises. These creations would make beautiful gifts for loved ones and friends for the upcoming holiday season too!
I made a little video so you can hear more about it…
Things that we will cover in the workshop:
- A guided tour of Birds in Art throughout history
- Bird symbolism and mythology
- Creating bird sketches with ink and charcoal on vintage papers
- A study of drawing feathers and wings
- Bird poetry inspired art journal spread
- How to set up your encaustic wax
- A bird/woman metamorphosis portrait collage
- Feather & Wax Collage
- Landscape/Bird collage with wax, oil sticks and gold leaf
This class is a must for anyone who loves birds and ART!
I really enjoy guiding and communicating with my students, so I will only be taking a limited number. Registration will close when the classroom reaches maximum occupancy.
CLASSROOM OPENS OCT. 26th, 2015
